October 25, 2011: Classes, Art and a Contest

Here are five reasons you should get out and about town today.

 

1. Today will be sunny with a high near 57, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

2. Girl Scouts in grades 9-12 can get a taste of campus life by spending the day at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic on Saturday, Nov. 19. To sign up, or for further information, contact Nancy Bajek at nbajek@gsofct.org, or call 203-239-2922 ext. 3369.

3. Artists Open Studios will be coming back to Northeastern Connecticut on Nov. 25-27 & Dec. 3-4. More than 70 top artists will open their studios to collectors and visitors. For more information about the tour and listings for individual artists, go to http://www.aosct.org. For more information contact suzy@willowtreepottery.us or 860-287-8056.

4. Patch and Heidi Klum are joining together to find the most creative kids' Halloween costumes in the country. Upload a photo of your child in their most creative costume for your chance to win.

5. You can head on over to the Mansfield Community Center for their 8:30 a.m. Water Fitness Class. The session combines a variety of underwater exercises utilizing the deep and shallow ends of the pool. The class runs $59-$64 for members and $79-$86 for non-members.
