There Will Be Mud: Annual OOzeball Tournament at UConn

Forget Sparta. This. Is. OOZEBALL!

OOzeball: UConn's annual mud-filled arena for honor and glory took place Saturday, April 16. Twelve courts of mud and muck and cold, cold water for UConn students to truly test their mettle. It is the day to separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls.

"It is the most epic day of the year," said UConn student, Amy McDavitt.

The winner of the tournament receives a paltry $300, but true warriors of muck and volleyball like Caroline Rogi play not for money, but for "pride, and lots of mud...in strange places."

"I can never show my face here again," said Tim Stobierski, whose team was knocked out in the first round, "I guess I'm not coming back [to UConn] next year."

Stobierski's teammate, Jeanne Whalen, had only three words, "OOzeball 2012: Vengeance."
