No, I feel safer. Who will or can protect us from the government or the police when we are disarmed? Where are the checks and balances in that kind of arrangement? There aren't any. I don't like those odds.
Have you been paying attention to the news the last few days and all the attacks and MURDERS that have occured in America against innocent civilians in places like Burlington Vt and Anaheim, California by the police/government? It's frightening. It is why we need the Second Amendment as a check to the power and threat of tyranny.
When the government doesn't trust it's citizens enough to keep and bear arms, then there is something terribly wrong and out of control with the government.
There are no superhumans. There is nothing that separates the individuals who make up the TSA, HSA, local police or FBI from regular civilians. We are cut from the same cloth. If you distrust your neighbors so that they can't bear arms, then what would ever make you trust the government?
I distrust those who want me defenseless when I threaten no one.
America is based on RULE OF LAW or the idea that we are innocent and free, unless someone has proof we have behaved in a criminal way. Laws apply equally to ALL. As long as there is an absence of proof, we should be and remain free. Restricting the freedom of those who've committed no crime is tyranny and isn't that the very reason for the 2nd and 4th Amendments in the first place?
Remember "the land of liberty and justice for all? How can we be both free and unfree at the same time? We can't. Either you believe in freedom and rule of law for everyone, including peaceful gun owners, or you don't, but you can't have it both ways. Outlaw crime, not peace.
