Liberals or Conservatives? Democrats or Republicans? Who Is Right?

With the coming election people are choosing sides. Which side do you prefer and why?

Most people in America belong to one of two major political parties, the Democrats or the Republicans or they identify with the left or the right. But is this accurate? Are the two really that much different from one another. Is a Democrat that much different from a Republican or is the Left basically the same as the right? Maybe, but maybe not that much.

Most people who identify themselves as liberal believe that when they perceive a social problem government intervention is the answer. This could be represented by things like welfare, medicaid, nationalized healthcare and the like. But, do Republicans have a real different perspective on these issues than the Democrats? No, not really, and if you take off your party hat and look at it objectively you can see this.

For example, Republicans generally support subsidies to businesses and farmers. Isn't this is the same in principal as welfare, only either party just picks different "friends" to receive the handouts. Democrats support nationalized healthcare and medicaid but how is this different from medicare or the VA? Again, it isn't. It's just different "friends" receive the handouts (Let's not argue about who is more deserving because that is just another way of saying "let me pick my friends to give stuff to.") Also, let's not forget that the architect for today's "Democratic" Affordable Healthcare Act was Mitt Romney, a Republican.

The line has become even more blurred than this. A president or so ago most Democrats hated those "endless wars for oils." Now, that there is a new man furthering the same and even more "endless wars for oil" they are quiet. We are in more wars and have drones shooting bad people, innocent people and even American citizens in multiple continents. There is no peep from most Democrats on an issue you would think they should be screaming about and rightfully so? And we all know the Republicans never met a war they didn't like, right?

A president or two ago most Republicans would scream about high taxes and even higher debt. But, a Republican came up with TARP and a Democrat doled it all out to his banker friends, and then it got even worse as more money was given out and printed by the Fed and both sides were silent. There were NO OBJECTIONS.

It's seems that each party just likes to pick out different friends to dole out the booty. Of course both sides claim different reasons and slightly different justifications and schemes, but in the end, it's all the same, just slight variations of the same theme.  And, in the end, they just want to grab credit for giving everbody something figuring that eventually those acts of great selflessness and social responsibility (bribes) will result in votes that get them re-elected.  In most countries today the politicians just put cash in envelopes and give them out to the voters a day or two before the elections. This is more honest.

In essence, the left and the right support ONE policy, and that policy is called STATISM. Statism the idea that the government can fix all problems, big or small, and should. When we see a problem, a need or a crisis, government is almost always the answer. Statists have no problem with government intervention, government growth, and the problems that come along with this growth can be solved with even more government. If a little government is good, more is better, and more than more is even better. Government becomes like a  gigantic layered birthday cake the size of the leaning tower of Pisa just waiting to topple.

Both parties are in essence the same. Both parties are BIG government parties. Both parties are based on one principal, statism. The two parties may bicker over who should dole out what, how much and to whom, but in the end, they still believe in the same thing, giving away the store.

It reminds me of the scene in "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" when the Grinch steals everything in the house down to "the last crumb to small for even a mouse."

Yes, both parties not only want to give the whole store away, they want to take this scam further. Both parties don't want to stop even after they've taken that last crumb. They're even worse than the Grinch. At least the Grinch only stole in the present, the Democrats and the Republicans are both robbing from our children's future.
