Hanukkah Came Early for UConn Hillel

Hillel rang Hanukkah in early this year with the annual
outing to Huskies. In preparation, students helped Algom (Hillel’s Israel Fellow) in the kitchen to make Moroccan style sufganyot (Sfinje). In between the occasional snack, the delicious fried treats were served at the party later
in the evening.

Hillel partnered with the World Zionist Organization to kick
the night off with interactive trivia. After trivia, the music started, latkes, and sufganyot were served and the party geared up. More than 400 students turned out for the event. While there was no charge to attend, students were
asked to donate a canned good to HVCC or donate $2 to Beth Israel Synagogue in Danielson, CT. Tzedek, Hillel’s student led community service initiative has
been working with Beth Israel to revitalize the building and the community. Even while dancing the night away, the students still work hard to give back
(see picture jpg0008).
