Try Hockey for Free, Northeast Ice Dogs Invites Kids to UCONN on March 1st

Northeast Youth Hockey Association (NEYHA) invites boys and girls ages four to nine years old to to UCONN’s Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum on Saturday, March 1st (12:15-1:20pm) for a Try Hockey for Free clinic to experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basics of the sport in a fun, safe environment.

Try Hockey For Free Day is part of USA Hockey’s “Hockey Weekend Across America” celebration. This program, designed to provide youth hockey associations a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport, is a joint‐effort between USA Hockey, the National Hockey League, and NHL member clubs. With Total Hockey and Liberty Mutual Responsible Sports, the official sponsors of Try Hockey For Free Day, USA Hockey has 500 locations offering kids this unique opportunity.

"This is a great time to see your kids take their second 1st steps as they step out onto the ice.  We look forward to introducing new families to our sport,” said Aaron Krueger, President of NEYHA.  There will be plenty of prizes supplied by USA Hockey and the IceDogs.

To register for the event, please visit TryHockeyForFree.com.

NEYHA will have skates available and some other hockey equipment & sticks to borrow for the afternoon.  However, we highly recommend that you bring your own helmets and gloves of some sort (due to availability and fit), as they are required for a child to be on the ice.  Helmets can be bike, skate board or ski helmets as an example.  Please arrive early for fittings. You can contact NEYHA at IceDogsQuestions@gmail.com with any questions.
