Fundraiser for Mansfield Community Playground Rescheduled for Dec. 5

Inclement weather forced the committee to postpone its Papa Gino's fundraiser on Nov. 7.

When a wintry mix hit Mansfield last week, organizers of the Mansfield Community Playground made the decision to reschedule its Papa Gino's Fundraiser in the name of safety.

The fundraiser for the playground, originally scheduled for Nov. 7, will now take place on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

"We were snowed out for our last fundraiser (thank you to everyone who braved the drive, your contributions count!) so we're having another one," read a statement Wednesday on the Mansfield Community Playground's Facebook page.

The project, to be funded solely through donations, is estimated to cost $300,000 to complete, according to Sara Anderson, general coordinator of the committee overseeing the proposed Mansfield Community Playground.

Here are some other ways you can help with the project:

  • Purchase a Fence Picket

Six hundred fence pickets would surround the Mansfield Community Playground. For $35, you can have a name or business engraved on a permanent fence picket.

  • Sponsor a Playground Component

Cover the cost associated with one or more components of the playground such as a bench ($350), cable walk ($500) or fire pole ($850).

  • Become a Playground Sponsor

Donations of $100 or more would be recognized on a permanent donor wall at the entrance of the playground.

  • Join the Mansfield Community Playground Committee

The committee is currently looking for a Public Relations Coordinator, among other positions. The candidate would head a sub-committee responsible for writing press releases, managing a Facebook page, developing Web content and creating fliers.
