Dry Style to Juice Fans of Comic at Foxwoods, Marc Anthony a Heat Wave for Mohegan, South Windsor Vineyard Site of Tuscan Dinner, Bike Riders Support Hole in the Wall Camp

Steven Wright defines the concept of dry humor. In fact, one of his best-known lines is, “I bought some instant water one time but I didn't know what to add to it.”

When he went on “The Tonight Show” in 1982, Johnny Carson loved him so much he invited him back the next week. You can see this king of deadpan in the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m.

Other just Wright lines include:

A lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of widths.

Curiosity killed the cat, but for a while I was a suspect.

I poured spot remover on my dog. Now he's gone.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

Wright won an Oscar for short film and has appeared in the movies “Desperately Seeking Susan,” “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” Oliver Stone’s “Natural Born Killers,” and Nora Ephron’s “Mixed Nuts.” He was the voice of DJ K-Billy in “Reservoir Dogs.” In 2008, Wright was the first comic inducted into The Boston Comedy Hall of Fame.

Ride for the Hole in the Wall Gang

Saddle up on your bike Saturday, Sept. 10, to raise funds for one of Connecticut’s favorite causes, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford. The Camp Challenge Ride, with routes of 15, 30 and 62.5 miles, raises money for seriously ill children to go to camp or enjoy its effects bedside, if going in person is not possible.

More than 300 riders are expected to be at the event, which starts and ends at the campgrounds in Ashford. Music and food will be at the end of the ride, but the chance to see the place itself – Paul Newman's brainchild – is worth signing up. You still can.

Register online at the event Web site. Riders 16 years of age and up commit to raising a minimum of $250. Those under age 16 sign on to raise at least $100. All proceeds benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, whose services are free to campers and their families.
