'Take Note!' A Cappella Ensemble Performs Concert Sunday

The vocal ensemble's only sources of financial support are through donor contributions and distribution of its CD, "Take Note! Take Two."

The acclaimed a cappella ensemble Take Note! performs Sunday, June 8, at 3 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Mansfield Center, 548 Storrs Rd. (Junction of Routes 195 and 89).

Described as “joyous and inspiring,” Take Note! will hold its annual donor appreciation concert launching its twelfth concert season of raising funds for area charitable organizations.

Selections include a Beatles tribute recognizing the 50-year anniversary of the Fab Four’s first concert in the U.S. as well as Celtic music, jazz, and spirituals. Tax deductible donations towards Take Note! outreach will be accepted at the door.

Take Note! is a 22-voice a cappella ensemble based in Mansfield, and is comprised of select, talented, local singers from diverse backgrounds who enjoy challenging, eclectic musical styles.

Under the artistic direction of Linda Tracy, Take Note! has performed since 2003 raising over $100,000 for the benefit of over 50 organizations.

Take Note! never charges the organizations for its performances, and provides the community organization sponsoring each performance with marketing materials, press releases, media placement advice, and concert programs. All donations collected at the concerts go directly to the designated organization.

The group’s annual June concert is traditionally a “thank you” celebration for its supporters and a fundraiser to help Take Note! continue to offer benefit performances for other local nonprofits, free of charge, and to help Take Note! maintain and expand its outreach.

The vocal ensemble’s only sources of financial support are through donor contributions and distribution of its CD, “Take Note! Take Two.”

The group’s mission statement expresses its vision well: “Through performances in support of charitable endeavors, we are raising spirits, raising voices, raising hope.” For more information, visit www.take-note.org, email take-note@earthlink.net, or call (860) 228-2390.
