9th Annual Festival on the Green to Celebrate Mansfield

The 9th Annual Festival on the Green will take place this weekend, rain or shine.

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership and the Town of Mansfield invite area residents to celebrate Mansfield at the 9th Annual Festival on the Green.

It all begins Sunday, Sept. 23 in front of E.O. Smith Regional High School.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 23

Bikes, Tykes, and Trikes; 11 a.m.: Children and their guardians are invited to assemble with their bicycles and tricycles at the corner of Storrs Road and South Eagleville Road (Route 275).

Storrs Road (Route 195) to Close; 11:45 a.m.: The closure will allow for the parade.

Celebrate Mansfield Parade; Noon: The parade will feature: "The Pride of Connecticut" UConn Marching Band, animals, athletic teams, puppets from the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, and more.

The parade will begin at the Storrs Post Office, travel up Post Office Road, north on Storrs Road (Route 195) and continue onto Bolton Road. 

Kidsville Kuckoo Revue: The Mansfield Downtown Partnership notes that their performance is for the "young and young-at-heart."

Pony Rides: 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Poor Old Shine Performance; 3 p.m.: Bluegrass/American folk band from Storrs

Brown Bird Performance; 3:30 p.m.: Traditional American Music

Throughout the afternoon, Mansfield businesses and organizations will be hosting a variety of activity booths.

In the event of rain, the festival will be held inside E.O. Smith.
