Froyoworld held its grand opening Saturday at its new location at 1 Dog Ln. in Storrs Center.
With the promise of frozen yogurt, free T-shirts and prizes, a line quickly formed outside the store beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Ian Minearo, a 15-year-old resident of Mansfield was first in line with his friends who braved the early morning hours for frozen treats and the chance to win Apple products.
"I've been here three times," Minearo said. "But now I want to get a T-shirt, I want to get some Froyo and I want to win an iPod," he said.
Fifteen-year-old Will Fazzina said he tagged along for the Dutch Chocolate frozen yogurt. "I love it; it's so good!," he said.
Even State Representative Gregg Haddad was on hand to welcome Froyoworld to Storrs Center, a business Haddad said brings over 20 jobs to the area.
"I think people are very excited about Storrs Center," Haddad said. "The reception here is a pretty clear example of that," he said.
Owner Dennis Bok said he hopes the excitement spreads.
"We want to be a fun-filled atmosphere for students and families alike to come and enjoy frozen yogurt, the healthy alternative to ice cream," Bok said. "We're happy to be part of this development," he said. "It's great for the community and we're glad to be here."
Froyoworld is open Monday-Sunday 11 a.m.-12 a.m. For more information, visit them online at www.froyoworld.com.
