Sweet Emotions Candy is located at 9 Dog Ln. at Storrs Center.

Sweet Emotions Candy held its Grand Opening and ribbon - er, gummy snake - cutting ceremony Thursday at Storrs Center.

Owner Barry Schreier happily served candy sushi, offered refreshments and handed out free commemorative Sweet Emotions Candy treats to all in attendance.

"This is great; thank you all for being here," Schreier said to the small crowd gathered at 9 Dog Ln.

State Representative Gregory Haddad (D-Mansfield, Chaplin) said Thursday new businesses such as Schreier's are important to the local economy and that he was pleased to attend yet another grand opening at Storrs Center.

"I wish him [Schreier] the best of luck," Haddad said.

Mansfield Mayor Elizabeth Paterson said Schreier's shop was a great addition to the downtown project.

"I think that the candy store is very unique as are some of the other businesses in the area," Paterson said.

"I think it's great that Mansfield residents and students have some place to go locally to make purchases. It's a great day for Mansfield-Storrs and I can't wait for the next store to open up," she said.
