Tell Us About Your Favorite Family-Friendly Restaurant

Patch wants to know about the best places in the region.

You've had enough of cooking and leftovers, and you're not in the mood for a drive-through burger. It's time to get out of the house and let someone else do the cooking and cleanup, but which restaurants make you feel comfortable with young children at the table?

We all know better than to try a white-linen establishment that doesn't even have high chairs or booster seats. But where are those hidden gems that keep a cache of crayons and paper on hand, or maintain a shelf with communal toys?

Even without those distractions, there are some restaurants that just enjoy seeing children and let you relax without worrying about a little extra noise. They have a children's menu, and they will accommodate the kid who doesn't like anything but butter on his pasta.

Each Tuesday, Patch asks its readers to share their favorite foods and restaurants with us. So join in the conversation, and let's talk family-friendly restaurants!

LaSalle in Collinsville has good food, toys and a decidedly non-generic atmosphere. The Harvest Cafe and Bakery on Route 10 in Simsbury is great too. The Teddy Bear Pancakes are a big hit with the younger kids.

How I miss the opus bread. I need to get down there soon.

Dorothy and Leroy's in Windsor Locks (255 Main St.): http://patch.com/A-lkZB . They're friendly, the food is great, the portions are huge, the atmosphere is casual, definitely a family-friendly restaurant.

You just can't beat Antonio's restaurant in Simsbury Ct. The food is consistantly great the service is friendly, and the ownership and management really care. Kids are thought of in every facet of the operation. Our kids now big kids when asked what they would like for dinner by my wife for their visit home, and she has some really good possibilities, universally say Antonios. Try it you will be impressed and hooked for life like we are.

I second Jim's comments on Antonio's. Very family friendly (I'm a father of 4), lots of stuff for the kids to look around and see, a great place to play "I Spy". Small toys, like a barrel of monkeys at the tables, and the host and waitstaff work very hard to please.
