'Topping Off' Ceremony Held at Storrs Center

The traditional celebration was held at the construction site late last week.

 

The construction team for Storrs Center recently commemorated the completion of the exterior framing of 1 Dog Lane – one of the – with a “Topping Off” event held Nov. 17.

Representatives from Leyland Alliance LLC, of Tuxedo, NY, the master developer for Storrs Center, Erland Construction, Inc. and the Mansfield Downtown Partnership gathered for the ceremony to celebrate the roof truss being placed at the top of the building.

“The construction team could not have been more excited about the Topping Off ceremony,” Howard Kaufman, managing member of Leyland Alliance, LLC, said in a prepared statement. “The vision for Storrs Center has been years in the making and its opening is right around the corner. That’s progress!”

Storrs Center is intended to be a mixed-use town center located adjacent to the .

When completed, developers say the $220 million project will give Mansfield new retail, restaurant, office and residential development.

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership has reported that the initial phases of construction, which includes pedestrian walkways, green spaces and conservation areas, will be completed in 2013. 

Co-developer Education Realty Trust, Inc. (EDR), based in Memphis, TN, will reportedly manage the approximately 290 residential units, while the retail and commercial space will be owned and managed by Storrs Center Alliance.
