UConn Health Center Offices Coming to Storrs Center

The state university medical center is slated to open in Storrs in 2013.

The Health Center announced Tuesday that it will be opening new offices in Storrs Center in 2013.

The 18,000 square-foot facility will provide "multi-disciplinary health care services, a world-class staff of medical professionals, 48 new jobs" when it opens at 1 Royce Circle next December.

"Storrs Center is creating a brand new main street, and like any town, it needs quality medical care," Maureen McGuire, spokesperson for the UConn Health Center said Tuesday in a prepared statement. "UConn Health Center experts will provide state of the art health care services to the regional residents, as well as University students, faculty, staff and families."

The UConn Health Center includes more than 450 physicians, and currently has offices in Farmington, West Hartford, East Hartford, Avon, Simsbury and Southington, according to a news release.

"The Health Center is part of the University of Connecticut and is at the center of Bioscience Connecticut," Howard Kaufman, managing member of Leyland Alliance, master developer of Storrs Center, said in a prepared statement. "It is an honor to have such a prestigious health care organization join us as an integral part of the Storrs Center community."
