Vandals Strike Starbucks

Rocks were thrown through the shop's windows.

Vandals braved the blizzard this past weekend and headed to the on Route 195, breaking two windows.

"Somebody threw around five football-sized rocks through the [two] windows," barista Adam Magistri said.

The vandalism happened sometime between 2 p.m. Sunday, when they closed shop early due to the storm, and 5 a.m. Monday, he said. Magistri discovered the damage when he came in to work Monday morning.

"We opened up Monday, and the windows were gone," he said. "We delayed our opening [on Monday] until around 10 a.m."

Two full-size glass door panes were shattered on the building's front entrance.

"No one took anything," said Magistri. "We had $50 in tips sitting right here on the counter. Nothing was stolen."

Magistri said he expected a work crew to arrive later in the day Wednesday to assess the damage.

The windows are boarded up pending the installation of their replacement panes.

Magistri said he was unsure how much the replacement windows will cost.

Starbucks is up and running on its normal schedule.

Connecticut State Police said the incident is still under investigation.
