Airlines Canceling Sunday Flights at Bradley International Airport Ahead of Irene

The airport plans to remain open through the bad weather.

Hurricane Irene is causing airlines to cancel virtually all of their flights at Bradley International Airport on Sunday.

Commercial flight operations will continue through Saturday night, Airport Spokesman John Wallace said. Bradley plans to stay open on Sunday to accommodate any emergency diversions, military flights, etc., he added.

The flight cancellations are happening at airports across the Eastern Seaboard this weekend, Wallace said.

The rain preceding Irene has not caused any problems at the airport Saturday, Wallace said.

Bradley has a few cots available for anyone who may get stuck at the airport, but there are hotel rooms available close by, Wallace said. Airport staff will be available to help anyone who needs it.

The airport will resume normal operations on Monday, Wallace said.
