Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) has rescheduled a public open house for residents to learn more the Interstate Reliability Project, Town Manager Matthew Hart announced Monday at a Town Council Meeting.
Representatives from CL&P will host the open house on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the .
The event was originally scheduled for Sept. 14.
The community is encouraged to use this time to meet with project representatives, ask questions and voice concerns about the proposed transmission upgrade.
The proposed Interstate Reliability Project is designed to “improve the reliability of the transmission system serving eastern Connecticut and the southern New England region,” according to a CL&P news release.
A CL&P presentation to Mansfield’s Town Council in August revealed that CL&P had designed three options for building in . (They can be seen in the attached photographs above).
Representatives said CL&P's proposed design would utilize the existing right-of-way in .
The proposed project route begins in Lebanon and continues through Columbia, Coventry, Mansfield, Chaplin, Hampton, Brooklyn, Pomfret, Killingly, Putnam and Thompson and into Rhode Island and Massachusetts, according to the release.
CL&P encourages attendees to submit comment cards to CL&P at the open house, online or in a letter to Town officials to help determine which design is best suited for the Town. All comments will be forwarded to the Connecticut Siting Council (CSC) for review.
