Tickets Still Available for 2013 Greater Hartford Women's Conference

The event, which will feature two panel discussions in addition to breakout sessions and speakers, will be held at Maneeley's Banquet Facility on March 26.

The early bird special is still available for registering for the 2013 Greater Hartford Women’s Conference, which will be held at Maneeley’s Banquet Facility in South Windsor on March 26.

Registration is $59 for those who sign up on or before Feb. 28. The cost goes up to $85 on or after March 1, according to event Chair Denise Carter.

“The event is geared toward women for professional development, networking and personal development,” Carter said in a telephone interview Wednesday.

Dr. Gina Barreca, author and a professor at the University of Connecticut, is the keynote speaker for the sixth annual conference, which will also feature two panel discussions.

Topics for discussion will include gender and generations in the workplace, mentoring and coaching, and volunteering in the community, Carter said.

According to a press release, panelists for the morning session called “Pay it Forward” include Dr. Susan G. Weinberger, president of Mentor Consulting Group; Dr. Gena Glickman, president of Manchester Community College; Cindy Moore, global human resources manager from General Electric; and Tricia Brunton, president of Xcel.

Olessa Stepanova from WFSB Channel 3 will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies.

“It’s a wonderful conference,” Carter said. “We’ve improved it further this year and hope to have a sold out audience for the second year in a row.”

The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Maneeley’s Banquet Facility located at 65 Rye St., South Windsor, CT 06074. Registration is $59 through February 28 and $85 after March 1.

No, North Korea isn't making me nervous. They're just a bunch of big mouthed small minded windRead More bags. What really makes me nervous are the politicians currently in power around here, namely Dan Malloy and Barack Obama. They make me plenty more nervous than Kim Jong Un...

ADHD is a real disorder but is way over-diagnosed. When a boy isn't engaged (bored, not challenged),Read More he's slapped with a label. Sometimes drugs are appropriate, other times it could mean that he needs to move up a grade level or be stimulated in another way. But other times its just covering problems up. I'd like to know what other countries do that diagnose ADHD.

Why not name Marriage between people of the same sex "Gayrriage" and make them as valid asRead More marriage. It may keep more people happy.

And there is the great thing about the Internet. I came here (just found Patch the other day) forRead More some civil discussion about local events with people in my community and not one post later it devolves to, essentially, name calling by anonymous users. It’s the most perfect constant in the universe. Anyway, no, 17 years is not that long in the grand scheme of things, but this is not the 1950’s. And I don’t see why in this case it’s Bill Clinton’s values. He signed the law, but I fail to see how that effects the current discussion. It would seem to be the values of the country as whole that are changing.
