CTAA Open House

Registration for EASTCONN’s Capitol Theater Arts Academy
(CTAA) classes is now open, and both current and new registrants are invited to
attend CTAA’s annual Open House and Shoe Exchange on Wed., Jan. 15, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at EASTCONN’s Capitol Theater, 896 Main St., Willimantic.

During the CTAA open house,
families are invited to meet teachers, tour the Art Deco-era Capitol Theater
building, participate in free workshops, and register on-site for spring
classes. Registering students may also exchange their gently used dance shoes
by choosing from among CTAA’s collection of lightly used jazz, tap and ballet
shoes.

Open to children ages 3-18, CTAA is
an EASTCONN community outreach arts program that offers classes in dance,
theater, musical theater, creative writing, and visual arts as well as private
music lessons. Talented, local arts professionals teach all of CTAA’s classes.

This spring, CTAA has added a new
class to their Early Childhood Dance program. A Tiny Tappers class will join
Pre-Ballet and Creative Movement for children ages 3-5. This low-key,
fun-filled introduction to tap will be taught by local dancer Hillary Bowling.

For students interested in
enhancing their musical theater skills, CTAA offers a series of short,
intensive, training classes in Dance, Acting and Singing. These classes focus
on the skills needed to audition for musicals including learning basic choreography,
compelling monologues and site singing.
