An Afternoon of Fiction from Elephant Rock Books

Featuring Stacy Bierlein and Patricia Ann McNair

Short story writers Stacy Bierlein, author of A Vacation on the Island of Ex-Boyfriends, and Patricia Ann McNair author of Temple of Air will read from their work. Both authors are published by the literary press, Elephant Rock Books.

Publisher’s Weekly called Bierlein’s book a “memorable and engaging collection.” She is the founding editor of Other Voices Books and the editor of the award-winning anthology A Stranger Among Us: Stories of Cross Cultural Collision and Connection, and co-editor of Men Undressed: Women Writers and the Male Sexual Experience.

Audrey Niffenegger writes that Temple of Air is “a beautiful book, intense and original.” It was named Book of the Year by the Chicago Writers Association. McNair has managed a gas station, sold pots and pans door to door, tended bar and breaded mushrooms, worked on the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and taught aerobics. Today she is an Associate Professor in the Fiction Writing Department of Columbia College Chicago

Elephant Rock Books is an imprint of the multimedia company Elephant Rock Productions and is dedicated to publishing handsome books of enduring fiction and nonfiction. Jotham Burrello, an instructor at Colombia College Chicago and arts entrepreneur is the founder of Elephant Rock Books. He will join us for the reading.
