Nobel Laureate Jody Williams will deliver a public lecture at the Thomas J. Dodd Center on April 4, 2013 at 3pm in Konover Auditorium. The Dodd Center is proud to host this public lecture in support of PeaceJam’s New England Youth Conference. This lecture is co-sponsored by UConn Student Activities, the Human Rights Institute, and the UNESCO Chair Office.
Jody Williams received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for her work to ban landmines through the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which shared the Peace Prize with her that year. Since winning the Nobel Prize, Williams helped establish the “Nobel Women’s Initiative” in January 2006 and also led a High Level Mission on Darfur for the UN’s Human Rights Council in 2007. After Ms. William’s public lecture, she will host a book signing marking the release of her new book, “My Name is Jody Williams: A Vermont Girl’s Winding Path to the Nobel Peace Prize.” A reception will follow.
