Norman Stevens, Spoon Collector

Norman D. Stevens, Director Emeritus of the UConn Libraries will talk about his book, A Gathering Of Spoons: The Design Gallery of the World’s Most Stunning Wooden Art Spoons. Stevens, together with his wife Nora, have been collectors since the seventies, amassing collections of purses, librariana, and crafts. From the beginning Stevens collected a few handmade spoons, but in 2005 he began seeking out and approaching spoon makers asking them to make nine-inch spoons. His extraordinary collection of handcrafted wooden spoons, the result of that ongoing effort, has been beautifully photographed by Tib Shaw and is the subject of this book. Stevens offers thoughtful essays and resources.
