"Digital Town Hall" increases opportunity for community engagement in Mansfield Tomorrow

As part of the Mansfield Tomorrow initiative, the Town of Mansfield has partnered with MindMixer, a web-based platform dedicated to empowering citizens to engage with government in new and meaningful ways. While public meetings such as the Community Visioning Forum the town hosted on March 9 are useful for discussing community issues, not everyone is able to attend such meetings and therefore many voices go unheard. MindMixer provides community members with a forum for discussing relevant topics, voting on and prioritizing issues, sharing ideas, and proposing solutions without leaving the comfort of his or her home or workplace. After registering for a free account on the Mansfield Tomorrow MindMixer site (ideas.mansfieldtomorrow.com), users can post ideas in several different topic areas, including agriculture and economic development. Anyone who uses the site before May 15 to submit a personal vision statement for the future of Mansfield will be entered into a drawing to receive a free three-month individual membership to the Mansfield Community Center. Users can also comment on other people’s ideas or simply "second" them to show approval. The input garnered through the Mansfield Tomorrow MindMixer site is shared directly with Town staff, the Town Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission. Mansfield Tomorrow is a town initiative to shape the future of Mansfield through an updated comprehensive plan and improved zoning. The Town wants to make sure the future plan reflects the values, aspirations, and priorities of people who live, work, learn, shop or play in Mansfield. Community members are encouraged to go ideas.mansfieldtomorrow.com to sign-up for free and join the conversation.
