October 6, 2011: Open House, Call for Volunteers

Here are five reasons to get out and about town today.

1. Today will be sunny with a high near 62, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

2. The Agricultural Education Program at will host an at the high school. If you would like further information regarding the open house, please contact your child's school counselor.

3. This year's is looking for towns and cities in the state with U.S. Veterans, businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in the 12th Annual Connecticut Veterans Parade. To register to march or volunteer, call 860-986-7254 or visit www.ctveteransparade.org.

4. Love a good scare? The Connecticut Trolley Museum is looking for this Halloween season. No prior acting experience is required, only a desire to scare people and have fun.

5. You can head on over to the  for their 8:30 a.m.  Class. The session combines a variety of underwater exercises utilizing the deep and shallow ends of the pool. The class runs $59 - $64 for members and $79 - $86 for non-members.
