A Night to Remember!

Only the American showman P. T. Barnum could have made last night's Annual Town Meeting any better!

A funny thing happened on the way to the Mansfield Annual Town Meeting last evening.

Instead of the serious drama and high discussion of future out of control spending and one shot budgetary gimmicks to balance Mansfield’s spending plan that I expected to hear, I saw classic elements of a farce; a case of mistaken identity (As in Republicans disguised as out of control spending Democrats.); and satirical comments on bipartisanship (As in the Democrat union shill waxing on about how he loves bipartisanship.). All would have made Zero Mostel proud.

It was not high theater, but entertaining nonetheless.

Part Kabuki Theater, part Punch and Judy, it had all of the elements of entertainment sans the music and dance.

Still, it was the clowns I loved the best. Only small cars and Shriners could have upstaged the pantomime and wild streaming antics of that clown swimming across the stage.

And what of those election monitors?

Straight from the Carter Center on election observation, right? I can’t wait to receive the monitor notes and election report on the procedures and local conditions as to fairness and accuracy, you? It should be an excellent read!

Well, my only regret is I have to wait a full year for the next round of the greatest show on earth!
