"I'm Connecticut"

New stage comedy at Jorgensen features Connecticut and Storrs.

Sleepless in Seattle or restless in Storrs?

Regardless of the geography or the state of state you are in I’m Connecticut” (the play) is the perfect anecdote for seasonal effective disorder and living in well…Connecticut.

The last time anything generated this much excitement in Storrs was when the South American Condor was released above Horse Barn Hill to demonstrate its 10-foot wingspan and love for raw chicken.

Seriously though, “I’m Connecticut” is a must see.

Written by Bristol native and writer/producer for “The Simpsons” Mike Reiss, the new stage comedy opened its world premier last night to a nearly sold out audience at the Connecticut Repertory Theater. Loaded with satire and sweetness, it is, on its most basic level, a love story. The play, which runs through December 10th at the stars Harris Doran as Marc, Jerry Adler as Grandpa and Joyce DeWitt in the roles of Polly and Judith.

The strange oddity of living in the “land of steady habits” or the “Nutmeg State” or a place called Storrs, where none actually exist, was all part of the fun and good humor. In the end, Connecticut is seen as a charming, warm, great place to raise kids. And haven’t we all said that in front of the fire with nothing to do!

But, for the star-hungry Storrs theater patrons, there is the added bonus of actually meeting (or gawking) at Reiss, an honest to goodness Hollywood four time Emmy award winning writer and producer, who (although he sports a limited wing span) graciously autographed theater play bills.

Written with a lot of heart, “I’m Connecticut is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

What have you got to lose? The condor won’t be back for another year.
