“Dum, dum, dee, dum…”
Come on! Clap and sing along.
“Dee, dum, dum, dee dum…”
Announced over a period of weeks and months, the Democratic party of Imaginationland has a new party platform. Here it is!
“At some point, boom, people are slapped with a significant (tax) increase,” said Vice Chairman of the Board of Education, Shamim Patwa to the Willimantic Chronicle in her explanation for easing Mansfield into anticipated property tax increases.
Yikes!
“Mansfield schools don’t really need reading, writing, and arithmetic. We have Spanish,” said Mark LaPlaca, Chairman of the School Board and Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee at the February 21, 2011 Special Town Council Meeting.
Hun? What the…? Did Chairman LaPlaca really just say that?
And?
And, in response to the public’s outcry over town employees borrowing equipment, $500 life event gifts, and the absence of whistle blower protection, Deputy Mayor Moran said, “Mansfield’s proposed Code of Ethics is based upon real events and things that actually happened. Many people have had their handprints all over this proposed code from the beginning.”
No doubt.
And finally—the pièce de résistance…
“The Town could always take the properties (at the Goodwin site) by eminent domain—not that we would want to take them by eminent domain,” Councilman Kochenberger offered at the March 7, 2011 Special Town Council meeting when discussing the three abutting parcels that would be needed in order to build a new school on the existing site.
You did say eminent domain, Councilman?
And, there you have it!
The four legs of the party’s new platform—raise taxes—illiteracy—unethical governance—and eminent domain!
