Burn Victim That Walked into Mansfield Fire Station Was in ATV Accident

A 13-year-old boy was transported to the hospital late Friday afternoon after walking into Station 107 in Mansfield to report his injuries.

A local 13-year-old boy is being treated for third-degree burns he .

The boy was riding an ATV on the border of Coventry and Mansfield near Stafford Road when the vehicle flipped, pinning him underneath, Mansfield Fire Chief David Dagon said.

The boy, who was riding alone, was trapped under the ATV for approximately 10 minutes while the burning exhaust pipe rested on his legs and chest as he called for help, Dagon said.

The boy’s calls were eventually answered and help arrived to remove him from under the vehicle.

The boy was brought to Station 107 in Mansfield where he was treated by medics for his injuries and then transported by ambulance to Windham Hospital, Dagon said.

He was ultimately flown via LIFE STAR to a burn center in Providence, RI, Dagon said.

The boy’s name has not been released and his condition is unknown, Dagon said. He is not believed to be from Mansfield, Dagon said.
