The Mansfield doctor accused of failing to report a sexual assault of a child had his case continued Wednesday morning in Rockville Superior Court, a court official told Mansfield-Storrs Patch.
Ronald W. Kelly, 69, a physician at Mansfield Pediatrics and a medical advisor for local school districts, including Mansfield Public Schools and E.O. Smith Regional High School, was reportedly aware of a patient’s sexual assault, but did not report it to authorities, according to an arrest affidavit.
State law dictates that doctors are mandated reporters of such matters.
He will next appear in Rockville Superior Court on Dec. 5, according to a court official.
Kelly's attorney, Mark Hauslaib, could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon. A voice message stated that Hauslaib would be "out of the office" until Nov. 1, and that he would be "unable to receive or respond to telephone or e-mail messages" during his time away.
