Mansfield Man Charged with Sexual Assault

Police said months-long investigation led to the arrest.

A 45-year-old Mansfield man is being held on a $150,000 bond after being arrested by Connecticut State Police on Tuesday.

William G. Murphy, of 145 Brookside Lane, is charged with two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful restraint and three counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to an arrest report.

The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad began an investigation in December 2010 into the allegations of sexual assault of two minors which “reportedly had taken place in Mansfield between 2007 and 2008,” according to a news release from the department.

Following the investigation, Rockville Superior Court issued an arrest warrant on April 28 for Murphy’s arrest.

On Tuesday, Major Crime Squad Detectives took Murphy into custody at his home, according to police.

Murphy is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on May 4.
