Mansfield Man's Death Ruled Suicide

William G. Murphy had previously been charged with risk of injury to minors and fourth-degree sexual assault, according to police and court documents.

The Chief State Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Monday that the body of the committed suicide.

William G. Murphy, 47, who was , died of asphyxia due to neck compression, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Connecticut State Police found Murphy’s body in an area of the park in the early morning hours of June 26.

In May 2011, Murphy was , according to an arrest report.

The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad began an investigation in December 2010 into the allegations of sexual assault of two minors which “reportedly had taken place in Mansfield between 2007 and 2008,” according to a news release from the department.

He was due next in Rockville Superior Court on July 27.
