Mansfield Man Taken to Hospital as Precaution After Home Struck by Lightning

The man was transported to Windham Hospital as a precautionary measure after his Warrenville Road home was hit by lightning Wednesday morning.

A Mansfield man was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning as a precaution after his home was struck by lightning, Mansfield Fire Captain Will Cornell said.

The man, who lives on Warrenville Road, is expected to be okay, Cornell said.

“He was inside the home in the area of where the home was struck by the lightning,” Cornell said.

A woman, who was also home at the time, was not injured, according to Cornell.

The home experienced “minor damage” to an exterior and interior wall, but no fire damage was found, according to Cornell.

Mansfield is expected to experience isolated thunderstorms with the potential of strong winds and flash flooding throughout the day Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
