OMG PD: Accidental Shooting, Suspicious Stolen Property & Man Held on $1M Bond

A look at some remarkable police cases from Connecticut State Police Troop C Barracks.

The Case: On August 14, Connecticut State Police were dispatched to a residence on River Road in Willington for a medical assist.

The OMG PD Twist: A police investigation revealed that the homeowner had "accidentically shot himself with a pistol in the right leg while trying to clear a jam," according to a police report. Police said the man was transported to Rockville General Hospital for his injury.

The Case: Kenneth D. Armes, 19, of 329 Miller Rd., South Windsor, was arrested by state police on I-84 East near exit 70 and charged with third-degree larceny, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol under the age of 21 years and speeding, according to court records.

The OMG PD Twist: Following a traffic stop on August 14, Armes was found to be in posession of "approximately $3,700 worth of stolen property including a Department of Homeland Security badge, numerous GPS units and several other electronic devices," according to a police report. Bond was set at $5,000. Armes is next due in Rockville Superior Court on September 12.

The Case: , 30, of 103 Tuckie Rd., Windham, was arrested by state police on August 15 at the Mobil Xtra Mart in Mansfield and charged with voyeurism with intent to arouse sexual desire, importing child pornography material and possessing child pornography.

The OMG PD Twist: Connecticut State Police said their that Harper’s home computer, cell phone and an additional hard drive contained a total of 647 images and 181 videos of child pornography.

Police said a nine-year-old was the victim of voyeurism in the case, and “was not harmed in any way,” .

Harper is being held on $1 million bond. He was arraigned in Rockville Superior Court Thursday.
