OMG PD: Larceny, Criminal Mischief and Drug Arrests

A look at some remarkable police cases from Connecticut State Police Troop C Barracks.

The Case: Scarlett S. Wong, 29, of 38 Lodi Dr., was arrested by Connecticut State Police at Kohl’s Department Store in Mansfield and charged with fourth-degree larceny.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 20, Connecticut State Police responded to Kohl’s Department Store in the Town of Mansfield to investigate the report of a larceny. Upon arrival, police recovered $767.95 worth of merchandise from Wong’s possession, according to a police report. Wong was released at Kohl's and is due to appear in Rockville Superior Court on August 1.

The Case: Collen Ball, 38, of 128 Old Springfield Rd., Stafford Springs, was arrested by state police on Hartford Turnpike in Tolland and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 23, state police said they arrested Ball after he kicked in the door to a women’s apartment after repeated warnings from the woman to leave. According to a police report, Ball was “upset about the relationship being over with the victim,” broke the woman’s front door, and damaged her vehicle. Ball was released on a $1,500 non-security bond. He is scheduled to next appear in Rockville Superior Court on September 11.

The Case: Joseph Arce, 32, of 48 Quincy St., Apt #1, Boston, MA was arrested by state police on South Wilbur Cross Highway in Willington. Arce was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, operating a motor vehicle without a license, possession of a controlled substance, weapons in a vehicle and carrying and sale of dangerous weapons.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 24, state police said they observed Arce making an "improper lane change" in the area of Exit 70 in Willington. Following a traffic stop, Arce gave police permission to search his vehicle, according to a police report. During the search, police found a 9MM handgun, anabolic steroids and “suspected” Oxycontin pills, according to a police report. Arce was issued a $1,000 non-surety cash bond. He is scheduled to next appear in Rockville Superior Court on August 13.

The Case: Garrett R. Weinberg, 25, of 409 Beckley Rd., Berlin, was arrested by state police in the area of Exit 70 East in Willington and charged with failure to renew registration, insurance coverage failing the minimum requirements, failure to drive in the proper lane, drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 27, during a motor vehicle stop, police said Weinberg was found to be in possession of two small, sealed bags “containing a white powdery substance.” According to a police report, the substance tested positive for the presence of heroin. Weingberg was arrested and transported to Troop C where he was held on $5,000 bond, according to police. He is scheduled to next appear in Rockville Superior Court on August 29.
