OMG PD: Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

A look at some remarkable police cases from Connecticut State Police Troop C Barracks.

The Case: John M. Vavra, 26, of 10 Grove St., Apt. B, Dover, NH, was arrested by state police on Exit 66 East in Vernon and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to drive in the proper lane, drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and interfering with an officer.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 31, Connecticut State Police pulled over the vehicle Vavra was operating in order to conduct a traffic stop, according to a police report. During that time, police said they discovered that Vavra was concealing “several quantities of heroin and needles in his sock,” according to a police report. Police said he attempted to remove the items from his sock and "prevent them from being seized by troopers," according to a police report. Vavra was subsequently placed under arrest. Bond was set at $6,000. Vavra is scheduled to next appear in Rockville Superior Court on August 14.
