OMG PD: Week Ending June 5

A look at some remarkable police cases in the state.

The Case: A Vernon woman was  The four people in the stopped car were taken to the hospital.

OMG Twist: The woman was found by Vernon police after they followed a trail of fluid that leaked from her damaged car. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

The Case: following his September 2010 arrest during a routine traffic stop.

OMG Twist: The 25-year-old man was apprehended on the strength of a warrant after police discovered a large portion of his bail money to be counterfeit. The man was charged with first-degree forgery and held on a $40,000 bond.

The Case:  and charged with sixth-degree larceny after attempting to shoplift at Sears on Monday.

OMG Twist: It was hot on Monday, far too hot for the suspect who is accused of stealing an air conditioner. To make matters more interesting, when asked his name, he gave the name of world-renowned mountain biker Thomas Vanderham. Police said he tried to make off with the air conditioner, along with a microwave oven, in a shopping cart.

The Case: A Stamford .

OMG Twist: Bullies aren't just in school. This bus driver took bullying to the next level and ended up in cuffs after verbally harassing an 8-year-old Wilton student and then encouraging the other students on the bus to “recite the demeaning language,” according to police. Audio and video evidence lead to the driver's arrest, and he was released after he posted a $5,000 bond.

The Case: A Stamford woman was .

OMG Twist: After refusing to leave the property of a private builiding in Stamford upon a security guard's request, Stamford police officers attempted to physically remove her from the premises. Police said the woman refused to go without a fight, grabbing the groin of one officer and biting the other in the hand. She was charged with two counts of resisting arrest, first-degree criminal trespassing and two counts of assault on a police officer and issued a $50,000 bond.
