Police Investigating Mansfield Home Invasion, Attempted Armed Robbery

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call Thursday night for a home invasion and attempted armed robbery at Renwood Apartments on Yale Road.

Connecticut State Police Friday are investigating a Mansfield home invasion and attempted armed robbery after a shot was fired late Thursday night at Renwood Apartments on Yale Road.

Mansfield Resident Troopers and state troopers responded to Renwood Apartments just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a resident stating that two men dressed in black and wearing masks had entered the apartment brandishing handguns and demanding cash and valuables, according to a police report.

One of the suspects then fired a round into the wall of the apartment before fleeing, according to a police report.

Upon arrival, police found a resident with a laceration to his head, which he told police he had received during a struggle with one of the suspects, according to police.

Both suspects are believed to have fled on foot to a small car and left in an unknown direction, according to police.

Evidence was collected at the scene, according to a police report, and an investigation is ongoing.

Sgt. Richard Cournoyer of the Mansfield Resident Trooper's Office said Friday that residents should remain "vigilant" and "aware of their surroundings."

"If something in your neighborhood doesn't fit, or you see something that doesn't look right, just call," Cournoyer said.
