Police: New London Man Charged in Mansfield Sexual Assault

A 21-year-old New London man was arrested on a slew of charges late Monday after police said he sexually assaulted and injured a woman in Mansfield.

Miguel Troche-Cabrera, of Hawthorne Drive, New London, is facing charges of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree strangulation, first-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment in the first degree, second-degree breach of peace and sixth-degree larceny, according to a police report.

Police received a 9-1-1 call Monday at around 11:45 p.m. from an Eagle Court resident who reported a woman was outside his residence suffering from “multiple injuries,” according to a police report.

Upon arrival, troopers determined that the woman had been sexually assaulted while walking in her neighborhood, and that the male subject, later identified as Troche-Cabrera, had fled on a bicycle, according to a police report.

The woman was treated by EMS on scene, and transported to Windham Hospital, where she was then transferred to Hartford Hospital for further evaluation.

Troche-Cabrera, was later apprehended when police spotted him riding his bike on Route 275, according to a police report.

Troche-Cabrera is being held on $200,000 cash bond, according to an arrest report. He was arraigned in court on April 16.
