UPDATED: Second UConn Student Charged with Child Pornography Offenses

Federal authorities accuse Steven Lewis of Plainville with possessing and distributing child porn over the Internet

Steven Donald Lewis, 21, a senior at the University of Connecticut, was arrested Wednesday in his dorm room by members of the state Computer Crimes Task Force.

Lewis, a Plainville resident and president of university's French Club, is charged with the possession of child pornography and receipt and distribution of child pornography based on a federal complaint, according to U.S. Attorney for Connecticut David B. Fein.

Lewis was released on a $100,000 bond to the custody of an unidentified family member, according to Fein.

Lewis's arrest is unrelated to one made Wednesday morning of UConn football player according to Thomas Carson, spokesman with the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Haven. State police charged McKee with various child pornography offenses. He is being held on bond.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, the federal complaint against Lewis alleges that on Nov. 9, a Bristol Police Department detective logged into a public Internet file sharing program and downloaded 34 images of child pornography from a shared directory maintained by Lewis. The detective was working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Computer Crime Task Force in New Haven.
