State Police Issue More Than 3,000 Tickets During July 4th Holiday

While motorists made their way to and from Independence Day celebrations, Connecticut State Police hit the highways to ensure travelers’ safety.

Troopers stepped up patrols at midnight on Sunday, July 1, until around midnight on Wednesday, July 4. The following stats have been provided by Connecticut State Police:

  • Total Accidents: 323
  • Accidents with Injury: 41
  • Fatal Accidents: 0
  • DUI Arrests: 45
  • Speeding Tickets: 1,059
  • Seatbelt Tickets: 152
  • Moving Violation Tickets: 2,096

In 2011, police responded to 310 accidents, made 77 DUI arrests and issued 2,005 speeding tickets.
