firefighter Chris Renshaw, a Tolland resident, returned to Connecticut Wednesday evening after helping to extinguish a Virginia forest fire, according to a Department of Energy and Environmental Protection press release.
A total of 11 DEEP employees and nine private-sector firefighters left to battle the fire on July 1. The fire, which has been knocked down or contained, was spread over 1,200 acres in the George Washington National Forest, according to the release.
Firefighters from Arkansas and South Carolina also helped battle the blaze, according to The Northern Virginia Daily. Read more about the forest fire on The Northern Virginia Daily Web site.
