UConn Move-In Days May Cause Traffic Delays in Storrs This Weekend

Mansfield Resident State Troopers and UConn Police remind residents to remain cautious while traveling and suggest alternate routes to avoid delays.

Drivers should expect delays in and around Mansfield Friday as students begin the move-in process at the in Storrs.

The move-in period will run from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, through Sunday, Aug. 26.

The peak move-in time will be around 11 a.m. Friday, according to the university.

"During these times, motorists in the Storrs area can expect an increase in traffic and traffic delays," Captain Hans Rhynhart, of the UConn Police Department, said in a news release Thursday. "Motorists are advised to consider using alternate routes during these times to avoid these delays," he said.

Mansfield Resident State Troopers will assist traffic flow with extra patrols, according to Sgt. Richard Cournoyer of the Mansfield Resident State Trooper's Office.

"It's a once a year type inconvenience," Cournoyer said. "Just be sure to plan accordingly," he said.
