Original Story

State health officials announced Thursday that four public drinking water systems in Mansfield are among 69 in the state under a boil water advisory.

They are as follows:

  • Club House Apartments
  • Knollwood Acres Apartments
  • Maplewood Apartments
  • Woods Edge Apartments, LLC

The Department of Public Health (DPH) is currently monitoring these systems.

“Safe drinking water is a top priority,” Lori Mathieu, chief of the DPH drinking water section, said in a news release.

“The vast majority of Connecticut residents are served by large drinking water systems, and we are fortunate that these large systems have not been disrupted by the storm. However, it’s important that residential customers served by systems that have issued a boil water advisory follow the guidance of their public water system,” she said.

Homeowners with private wells in flooded areas should also take precautionsThe DPH recommends that residents in affected areas do the following:

  • Safely boil water by bringing it to a rolling boil for one minute. Make sure the water does not have any floating pieces in it.
  • Use boiled or bottled water when cooking, washing fruits and vegetables, brushing teeth or making baby formula.
  • Use water that has previously boiled and cooled to a safe temperature or bottled water to wash hands when cooking.

Mansfield residents concerned about their water supply may shower at the which is currently operating as an emergency shelter.

If you feel that your water supply may be contaminated, contact the DPH Private Well Program at 860-509-7296. For a complete list of systems under the boil water advisory, click here.
