Bradley Secondary Runway Will Be Closed For Lighting Upgrade
The federally-funded project will last from May 31 to June 20.
Bradley International Airport’s secondary runway, Runway 15/33, will be closed from Tuesday to June 20, as part of an ongoing airfield lighting project that will be done.
The project, which will replace light and underground wiring, costs $80,000, John Wallace, airport spokesman, said.
During this federally-funded three week project, all regular commercial flights will use the airport’s main runway, Runway 6/24. Normal operations will not be affected by the project, Wallace said.
Bradley International Airport is the second largest airport in New England and serves an extensive geographic area, with a customer base that covers the entire Northeast, including Western Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. According to the most recent economic impact analysis, Bradley contributes $4 billion in economic activity to the state of Connecticut and the surrounding region, representing $1.2 billion in wages and 18,000 full-time jobs.
