President

Barack Obama has scheduled two campaign functions in Fairfield County early next month, the Connecticut Mirror reports

Obama, , is scheduled to appear in Stamford and Westport on Aug. 6.

According to the Mirror, festivities will start off in Westport at movie producer Harvey Weinstein's waterfront estate. Admittance to the event costs $35,800 per person. Following the Westport festivities, donors can pay $500 to attend a function in the ballroom at the Stamford Marriot, having the option to get their picture taken with the president for $10,000.

In this election cycle, Obama has received $2.9 million from Connecticut donors, while presumptive GOP nominee Gov. Mitt Romney has received $4.8 million, according to The Mirror.

Senate

The upcoming primary will settle who’s running for Senate in Connecticut, but GOP frontrunner Linda McMahon is already taking aim at Chris Murphy, who leads Democrats in the polls.

Murphy talked of his work on the Center Aisle Caucus, reports the Hartford Courant. The group of congressmen work towards easing partisanship but  McMahon’s campaign says Murphy's record proves otherwise.

"Try as he might, Congressman Murphy can't hide the fact that he voted with his party 98 percent of the time he has been in Washington,'' Corey Bliss, campaign manager for McMahon, was quoted as saying.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): Connecticut officials, including DeLauro, are against a proposed three-month moratorium on lobster fishing in the Long Island Sound, reports Newsday. The moratorium is the idea of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and its New York equivalent.

Novak asks "Do you agree and will you vote for a candidate who thinks this way?" So far, 50 people "like" the photo.

Joseph Courtney (D): This also just in from Facebook, Joe Courtney met recently with Manchester native Dan Burbank, in Washington D.C., Burbank is an astronaut and he gave Courtney a small Connecticut flag that traveled to the International Space Station.

No, North Korea isn't making me nervous. They're just a bunch of big mouthed small minded windRead More bags. What really makes me nervous are the politicians currently in power around here, namely Dan Malloy and Barack Obama. They make me plenty more nervous than Kim Jong Un...

ADHD is a real disorder but is way over-diagnosed. When a boy isn't engaged (bored, not challenged),Read More he's slapped with a label. Sometimes drugs are appropriate, other times it could mean that he needs to move up a grade level or be stimulated in another way. But other times its just covering problems up. I'd like to know what other countries do that diagnose ADHD.

And there is the great thing about the Internet. I came here (just found Patch the other day) forRead More some civil discussion about local events with people in my community and not one post later it devolves to, essentially, name calling by anonymous users. It’s the most perfect constant in the universe. Anyway, no, 17 years is not that long in the grand scheme of things, but this is not the 1950’s. And I don’t see why in this case it’s Bill Clinton’s values. He signed the law, but I fail to see how that effects the current discussion. It would seem to be the values of the country as whole that are changing.
