Senate
Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy won’t be debating until next month, so in the meantime a battle on the airwaves will have to suffice. Murphy’s campaign released a TV ad that paints McMahon as a selfish CEO who laid off workers at the WWE.
Meanwhile, McMahon released a new radio ad saying that Murphy, “isn’t reaching across the aisle — or looking out for Connecticut jobs.”
Second District
Joe Courtney (D) took to his Facebook page to condemn the attacks that killed four Americans in Libya last night: "With President Obama and Secretary Clinton, I strongly condemn the attacks on our diplomats in Benghazi, Libya. Ambassador Stevens, the three other victims, and Foreign Service Officers across the globe put their lives on the line daily so that people everywhere can live a better, freer life. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims of this senseless, outrageous attack."
Paul Formica (R) released a video of his weekend athletic exploits (ballroom dancing competition in New London, pull-ups at the Ledyard Fair) on his Facebook page. He also touted that his interns in two offices across the district had made 3,500 calls last night, 700 more than Courtney had claimed his people had made.
Third District
Rosa DeLauro (D) is working to get President Barack Obama reelected. She’s a member of the Catholics for President Obama Committee.
“As a committed Catholic, I am supporting the President because I believe this is a critical moment for the middle class, and in order to keep moving America forward, we must have a President who leads with the values we share,” DeLauro wrote on Facebook.
Wayne Winsley (R): A supporter penned a theme song for Winsley’s campaign. The song, titled “Win With Winsley” by Tom Callinan, can be heard on YouTube.
Fourth District
Jim Himes (D) and Steve Obsitnik (R) issued statements about the killing of the Libyan ambassador and his staff.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the three American staff members killed in Benghazi, Libya," Obsitnik said. "Ambassador Stevens was a dedicated public servant whose life's work was promoting democracy around the world."
Himes said: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the attack on our embassy in Libya, which took four innocent lives yesterday. We owe so much to our diplomats, who put their lives on the line every day in far corners of the Earth to represent America’s commitment to democracy, freedom, and cooperation abroad. Ambassador Stevens was instrumental in representing U.S. interests in Libya during tumultuous times, supporting the nation’s transition to democracy and adding a human touch to international relations.
