Campaign Notebook: Murphy's New Ad Says 'That's Real'

Fifth District

Elizabeth Esty (D) and Andrew Roraback (R) appeared on WFSB’s Face the State to talk about the tough primary campaign and the upcoming election.

Senate

Chris Murphy (D) released a new video ad titled “That’s Real.” In the ad, he addresses the camera and gives an example of using federal funds to employ people in Connecticut. “I’m focused on creating jobs,” he said.

Linda McMahon (R) and the opposing Murphy campaign have been exchanging a flurry of critical press releases regarding jobs. The New Haven Register takes a look at both of the candidates’ job plans and compares them.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D) criticized free trade agreements – and Republicans – in light of problems in the nation of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf.

"We know that free trade agreements lead to offshoring and job loss to the detriment of middle-class American families," said Rep. Rosa DeLauro, according to the Huffington Post."What may be less known by the American public is that these agreements, supported by the Romney-Ryan ticket, allow global institutions to impede our ability to exert economic leverage over nations with whom we sign FTAs when they do not play by the rules, or act against U.S. interest.”

Jim Himes (D): Monroe’s Democratic Town Chairman came to the defense of the incumbent Himes and criticized his opponent Steve Obsitnik in a . Nicholas Kapoor wrote that Himes, “impresses upon his colleagues and practices a willingness to work across the aisle and compromise.”
