Presentation by the Connecticut Family Empowerment Network
Parents, guardians and advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities will gather on April 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Buchanan Auditorium of the Mansfield Public Library for a presentation by Walter Glomb from the Connecticut Family Empowerment Network. The focus of the presentation is on educating families about services offered by the State Department of Developmental Services, and how to develop a supportive network of families and individuals who receive these services.
The Family Empowerment Network works to ensure a safe system of support for people with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Their efforts include monitoring legislative actions that will impact services provided by the Department of Developmental Services, and offering seminars and workshops for parents, guardians and advocates to enhance their advocacy skills and their ability to negotiate the network of services and providers.
This event is sponsored by the Mansfield Advisory Committee on the Needs of Persons with Disabilities. Buchanan Auditorium is located on Route 89 (Warrenville Road) adjacent to the Mansfield Public Library. All are welcome.
