Mansfield Mayor Elizabeth Paterson issued a proclamation earlier this week in recognition of Oct. 20-26 as National Friends of Libraries Week.
The week is observed to recognize Friends, raise awareness of the group and promote membership, according to the American Library Association Web site.
"Friends of the Mansfield Library raise money that enables our library to move from good to great - providing the resources for additional books, much needed equipment, support for children's summer reading, and special events throughout the year," Paterson said.
